The founder of SINGLE LADIES COMMUNITY

*Can we meet you ma?

My name is Mimi O.U Ikomi (Mi-$pecial). I am from delta state. A graduate of banking and finance from the university of Benin. I am a writer and aspiring speaker. I am also the founder of SINGLE LADIES COMMUNITY.

*What do you do for a living?

I am a caterer but I'm more focused on fulfilling my purpose.

*Can you please tell us more about your ministry?

SINGLE LADIES COMMUNITY is a faith based organization aimed at inspiring and spurring single ladies to focus more on discovering and fulfilling God's purpose for their lives while awaiting Mr Right. For now we do this through write ups, "inspiring single ladies" and    organizing hangouts , "SINGLE LADIES HANGOUT WITH MI-$PECIAL". Here a number of single ladies hangout together and what we do basically is have meanifngful conversations while having fun
(Munching and drinking).

*What are your values and convictions?

 Purpose and destiny fulfillment

*How did u discover  'inspiring single ladies' as your divine call and purpose?

God drew my attention to a lot of married women who should be doing great things, conceiving and birthing great ideas , visions, dreams...but have ended up just having kids and nothing more. A degree and marriage just happens to be their only achievement . A lot of married women are not fulfilling God's purpose for their lives. And I discovered that the reasons were, firstly, they never bothered to discover their purpose before getting married and this also informed their wrong choice of a life partner as discovering purpose should determine your choice of a life partner. To fulfil purpose you need a man/woman who can share and support your vision except you do not get married.
Now I was beginning to see single ladies desperate to tow the same line of just getting married and having children nothing more to their lives, and in the process making the wrong choice too. So God placed the burden in my heart to inspire and encourage single ladies to focus on discovering and start going about God's purpose for their lives as there is more to life than just getting a degree, getting married and having kids.
The truth is, Whether or not you get married you have a purpose and destiny to fulfill and you will have to give account to God on how you used the gifts and talents He gave to you. Also to patiently wait on   God for the right man. There's no point in rushing into marriage as it's a life time journey. And inspiring single ladies is just a part of my purpose.

*How do you manage to balance your work with ministry together ma ?

There are distractions everywhere. So many things calling for your attention at the same time. God opened my eyes on the importance of organizing and managing my life, also on prioritizing and i have been trying to do that. Again l try to focus on important and urgent things  because fulfilling purpose requires so much tiime, so i try as much as possible to make sure unimportant/not urgent issues do not get my time. Besides there is so much to be done, so I try to avoid time wasting activities.

*Is there any correlation between ones background to discovering purpose?

Yes there is. There is a link between where you are coming from and where you are going to. God placed you in that family, you were born through  your parents for a reason. you grew up or are growing up in that environment for a reason. You may not like where you were born or the family you were born into. You may not understand why you were born through your parents but God has a reason for everything He does, there is a purpose for everything. If you would be patient enough you will realize overtime the reason you were born into that family or environment.  You will realize that the experiences gained will be useful or play vital a role in fulfilling your purpose.

*In this morally decayed society, what motivates you to stand for sexual purity? And what challenges do you experience in your stand for sexual purity?

I know i was created with a purpose and destiny. I have a glimpse of where I am headed to. I also know that my staying sexually pure (within and without) is tied to my fulfilling purpose. Again 1 Corinthians 6:19 tells us that as Christians our body is the temple if the Holy Spirit. I am conscious of the fact that the Holy Spirit reside on my inside, therefore if I defile my body He will depart. Also my fulfilling purpose is tied to the instructions the Holy Spirit gives me. He is my greatest source of inspiration. No Holy Spirit, no inspiration and purpose fulfillment. So I must stay pure before and after getting married if I want to stay connected to God.

*How do you cope with sexual temptations/harassment from the opposite sex and have you ever experienced such?

I will start from the last part of the question, i have never been sexually harrased. Secondly, I always remind myself that I have a purpose and destiny to fulfill and that there are people's destiny who are attached to mine so I owe them to fulfill my destiny and I will give account to God too. And I also made a covenant with God and He has been helping me with it.

*People refer background, peer pressure, and exposure as excuse to prostitution and sexual immoralities, how do you go through all that without been a victim. And what's your take on this ma?

I have no right to judge anyone whether or not I have walked in their shoes, this is because two people with same experience(s)are likely not to respond the same way. Secondly it's hard to be exposed to these things and not end up a victim. But whether or not you ended up a victim, the truth is you can choose to retrace your steps. Stop the act and walk towards becoming a better person.

*What steps would you advise to be taken in discovering purpose?
Firstly, have a relationship with your creator (God). He created you and knows why He created and what He created you for. Secondly, ask your creator to make know to you the reason He created you. Thirdly, look within and without, what is that thing that makes you want to weep, that you are passionate about to see it not see. Is it lost souls? Rape victims? Emotional abuse?  or what is that thing you love to do and can do easily. For me i love towrite and can write for hours. These are pointers to your purpose. For more information I recommend the following books THE BIBLE, INSTINCT AND DESTINY by T.D Jakes and THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE by Rick Warren.

*Is there age limit in discovering purpose?

There is no age limit. But the earlier you discover your purpose the better for you. One of the reason is you do not know how many years God has given to you. There is a time frame aattached to your destiny. Jesus lived for only 33 years. Secondly there may be so much God requires you to do, so the earlier you start the better you can finish them all.

*Where do u project your ministry to be in the next 2-3 years?

Create wider platforms to reach out to more single ladies and seeing these single ladies actually discover and start going about their purpose.

*What advice do you have for those struggling with sexual purity?

First of all, make a decision to stop all form of sexually activity. Second, Ask God to help your decision. Third, get help (counselling) from someone you trust. Someone who will not judge or condemn you, so you do not fall into a worse state than you already in and someone  you account to.

What word of encouragement do you have for those who are still sexually pure?

I know there is temptation everywhere. You are being tempted on all side. The internet is not helping matters. But I know God's grace is sufficient for you. Since you have made the decision to stay pure, He will you stand by that decision. Also try to make friends with those who share same conviction as you. There are people who wanted to stay pure but associating with the wrong persons made them break their vow. And ...keep staying pure.

Thank you for your time and committment,  Ma.
We hope everyone reading this will be richly inspired.
Till another time
We remain LADIES OF GRACE
AND WE LOVE YOU
